St. Cloud Solid Waste rate increase effective Feb. 1

St. Cloud Solid Waste customers will see a slight rate increase, effective Feb. 1. The increases are part of a phased increase approved in 2019 by City Council.

Residential and curbside collection will increase 39 cents, to $20.41 per month. Commercial Dumpster collection will increase to $6.86 per cubic yard per collection, from its current rate of $6.73 per cubic yard per collection.

Per the city, the rate increases are intended to cover rising operational and landfill costs. The Council chose to implement them over a period of five years to help mitigate the impact on customers, and this is the third of those five scheduled rate increases.

This comes on the heels of a Jan. 1 increase in solid waste rates, and a proposed Orlando Utilities Commission fuel rate increase of about 2.3 percent.
