St. Cloud school crossing guard severely injured by red-light running driver

 A St. Cloud school crossing guard was severely injured on Thursday, after being hit by a driver who allegedly ran a red light.

At about 8:04 a.m., St. Cloud Police Department officers responded to a call that a pedestrian had been hit at the intersection of 13th Street and Michigan Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers learned that it was a working St. Cloud Police Department School crossing guard that was struck by a vehicle. The guard suffered severe injuries and was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center for treatment, according to a police report.

 Preliminary investigations indicated that the driver of the vehicle ran a red light and hit the guard. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation.
