Breast Cancer Awareness Month is in October, but Orlando Health is not waiting on the calendar to offer screenings at a fun event.
As doctors urge people who are due for mammogr ams not to wait until October— according to the American Cancer Society, about 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer in their lifetime —Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital is now scheduling for the free “Sip & Screen” on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Women’s Imaging Center at 2900 17th St.
Attendees can schedule a future mammogram appointment, meet the physician team and tour the Women’s Imaging Center, along with setting up their appointment. On the fun side, enjoy mocktails and charcuterie, DIY flower and charm bars, a chair massage and essential oils station and a special photo opportunity.
“While Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a great time to come together and spread awareness, we want to make sure we’re talking about breast cancer year-round,” said Jeffrey Smith, MD, breast cancer surgeon with the Orlando Health Cancer Institute. “Early detection is so important because it can drastically improve outcomes for our patients.”
