Sheriff's Office: 4-year-old found dead in Kissimmee pond

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office is reporting that a four-year old girl was found dead in a pond on the northeast side of Kissimmee.

Deputies responded Monday evening to Derby Drive, which is off of Simpson Road just east of Lakeside Estates, in reference to a missing girl who was visiting family. Witnesses reported the child was last seen in the backyard with a family dog near a gated retention pond. Minutes later, and the dog was seen swimming in the pond but the child was no longer in view.

The Sheriff's aviation and K9 bloodhound units, Osceola County Fire Rescue and the Orlando Fire Department Dive Team responded and spent much of the night on scene. The dive team found the child submerged and deceased in the pond. The Victims Crime Unit and Forensics Unit have investigated and found no signs of foul play were on scene, and the have ruled to death to be a tragic accident. The next of kin have been notified of the girl's passing.
