Senator Rick Scott attended a luncheon in Kissimmee Saturday, speaking with supporters and presenting charters to two new county Republican groups.

Scott spoke at the second annual Faith, Family and Freedom Luncheon, held at the Kissimmee Christian Church on North Main Street. The luncheon was attended by over 200 people, including many local Republican office holders and candidates.

Scott met with the public and was the keynote speaker for the event. He talked about his upbringing and his grounding in faith, then brought people up to date with his office’s events and activities. He also encouraged local candidates who will be running, as well as the all the volunteers who help out.

“For all of you, thanks for caring about our country. If it wasn’t for people like you, we wouldn’t win,” he said. “ I for sure wouldn’t be here.”

Scott presented charters to two new Osceola County Republican organizations; The Faith Based Initiative Club and its president, Pastor Jim Book, and the Osceola Hispanic Conservative Committee and its chair Junior Faour and vice-chair Cheyenne Riofrio.

“We are starting the first Hispanic Club and the first Faith Based Initiative Club within the [Osceola] Republican Party, reaching out to everyone in Osceola County, and educating them. They’re both getting their charters today,” said Osceola County Republican Vice Chair JoAnn Colonna. “We’re very fortunate to have our Senator presenting them.”

Other speakers at the event included State Representatives Paula Stark and Carolina Amesty.

Awards for Volunteer of the Year were given out to Val Vengco, Nancy Michael and Cheny Bright. A new Club of the Year Award was given to the Republican Women’s Crusaders.
