The Osceola County School Board strongly believes that parents should decide which academic environment best meets their students' needs and interests.

In order to inform parents and students of their expanded high-quality school choice options within the Osceola School District for the 2021-22 school year, the district will host Choice Week from November 16-20.

While the pandemic has prevented the district from holding its large annual Choice Fair, this exciting week has been designed to showcase both virtually and at school sites the  options available to students in kindergarten through grade 12. The week will help families make sense of the district’s school choice process and give parents the knowledge and tools they need to make the right choice for their children. The district invites parents and students to utilize #awesceola and #SDOCGoodtoGreat on social media posts highlighting participation during the week.

The following happenings will take place throughout Choice Week 2020:

•Monday, Nov. 16: "Make-A-Match Monday" . . . Awe-Inspiring Discoveries!

Students and staff across the district are invited to wear any shade of blue today to celebrate school choice.  Both parents and students are invited to log on to the district's new interactive school choice website at www.myosceolachoice.school to take a fun interactive quiz to see which school in the Osceola School District best meets their child's interests and to learn about the offerings at each school.

 •Tuesday, Nov. 17: "Take-A-Tour Tuesday" . . . Awe-Inspiring Explorations!

Students and staff across the district are invited to dress like a "tourist" this day as parents and students are invited to log on to Flipgrid at https://www.osceolaschools.net/choicetours and take virtual tours to see first-hand the schools they are interested in attending.

•Wednesday, Nov. 18: "What You Want Wednesday" . . . Awe-Inspiring Experiences!

Students and staff across the district are invited to wear mismatched socks as parents and students continue to find their perfect school match.  Students and parents are invited to participate in an in-person drive-through event at the middle, K-8, and high schools they are interested in attending from 4 to 6 p.m.  Parents and students will stay in their cars to maintain social distancing as they drive through a designated area on each campus to learn about the different programs and offerings and to get school information and goodies.

 •Thursday, November 19: "Testimonial Thursday" . . . Awe-Inspiring Journeys!

Students and parents are invited to participate in an in-person drive-through event at the elementary schools they are interested in attending from 4 to 6 p.m.  Parents and students will stay in their cars to maintain social distancing as they drive through a designated area on each campus to learn about the different programs and offerings and to get school information and goodies.

•Friday, Nov. 20: "Frame Yourself Friday" . . . Show Your 'Awesceola' Pride!

Students and staff across the district are invited to wear school spirit shirts on the final day of Choice Week. They can also find the Facebook profile picture frame for the school they will be applying to for their child for next school year and "frame themselves" on social media.  The frames are easy to find: simply click on your Facebook profile picture, choose "add frame", and search for the name of the school you'd like.

Osceola School District's School Choice application window for the 2021-22 school year will run from Nov. 16 through Feb. 1, 2021.  Students and parents with questions about school choice are encouraged to visit www.osceolaschools.net/choice or call the district’s Educational Choices and Innovation Department at 407-870-4847.
