The city of Kissimmee will reopen the application process for rental and mortgage assistance on Nov. 30 at 8 a.m. to assist qualifying households who have been affected by COVID-19 and are now unemployed or underemployed.
Meanwhile, the Security Deposit & First Month Rent Assistance Program remains open until Dec. 18. Interested applicants for this program may apply at kissimmeeresponds.com/residentassistance.
The Rental & Mortgage Assistance Fund grant funds may be used to pay for:
- Rent or mortgage to include past due amounts back to March 1, 2020, and future payments not to extend beyond Dec. 30.
- Past due utility bills.
To be eligible to participate in the program, you must:
- Be unemployed or underemployed due to loss of income because of COVID-19; and,
- Residence must be physically located in the City of Kissimmee; and,
- Applicants may not request assistance for any month have already received assistance for from the City of Kissimmee or Osceola County. Duplication of services or assistance is not permitted for the same time frame.
- Household income must be 80% or less of the Area Median Income, as shown in the table below based on the number of persons in the household:
Applications will be available electronically starting on Nov. 30 at 8 a.m. to Dec. 18 at 5 p.m. or until all program funds are expended (whichever occurs first). A link will be activated on the city’s webpage, www.kissimmeeresponds.com/residentassistance, the morning of Nov. 30 for you to complete your application. A list of the required documents is available on the website if you want to get a head start collecting the documents necessary to apply.
