Osceola teachers, students from numerous schools were in quarantine due to COVID-19 exposure

A number of Osceola County School District students and teachers at a list of schools were quarantined due to COVID-19 cases or exposure.

The cases occurred between the two weeks of pre-planning and the first day of school on Monday at 17 different schools.

According to information from the School District, the students and teachers in quarantine either tested positive, negative or are awaiting results.

The schools are:

•Celebration High School:  Seven students and one adult were under quarantine.

Note: The exposure happened before school began, and they have not been on campus since school started on Monday.

•Celebration K-8:  Six parents tested positive.  Their children were in quarantine.

•Harmony Middle School:  Six teachers were quarantined and are awaiting test results. Four teachers with positive test results were in quarantine (pre-planning exposure).

•Neptune Elementary School:  Five teachers were in quarantine, one with a positive test result.

Note: The exposure happened before school began, and they have not been on campus since school started on Monday.

 •Ventura Elementary School:  One teacher was in quarantine with a negative test result.

Note: This teacher has not been around students.

•Hickory Tree Elementary School:  One teacher was under quarantine with a negative test result, and three paraprofessionals were under quarantine.

•KOA Elementary School: A teacher was under quarantine and has reported a negative test result.

•St. Cloud High School:  Two students reported positive tests before school began and were under quarantine. One teacher was under quarantine and awaiting test results. 

Note: Students have not been on campus.

•Denn John Middle School: An administrator was in quarantine and awaiting test results, and has an immediate family member who is positive for COVID-19.

•Thacker Avenue Elementary School: A student has tested negative, but was in quarantined as an older sister has COVID-19.

•St. Cloud High School: One teacher was is quarantined and awaiting test results, but had no direct contact with students. A second teacher was in quarantined and getting tested because of direct exposure to COVID-19 from a family member who tested positive.

•Poinciana Academy of Fine Arts: A teacher was in quarantine because of symptoms (suspects another medical issue that is non-COVID-19 related) and will get a COVID-19 test as precaution.

•Sunrise Elementary School: A teacher was in quarantined and will be tested for COVID-19 tested because an immediate family member was showing symptoms and is getting tested.

•Gateway High School: A student tested negative, but was quarantining because the parents tested positive.

•Osceola High School: A teacher was in quarantining while waiting on test results.

•Reedy Creek Elementary School: A teacher is quarantining while waiting on test results.

•Harmony Community School: A teacher was in quarantined and getting tested because of direct exposure to COVID-19 from a family member who tested positive.

Note: The exposure happened before school began, and the teacher has not been on campus since school started on Monday.
