The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office arrested 33 people and seized 16 guns in a saturation patrol over the weekend designed to stop unruly house parties.

The patrol executed by the Sheriff’s Office’ Intelligence and Tourist Policing Units on Friday and Saturday targeted the west corridor of the county to address the house parties at man vacation rental homes.

The overall goal of this saturation patrol was to address the house parties, which have sprouted out in this region, and have resulted in multiple violent incidents including shootings over the last several weeks and one homicide.

With the cooperation of the homeowner associations, the Sheriff’s Office was able to stop several large parties before they started. The operation resulted in 33 arrests and 16 firearms confiscated. Charges from the arrests included possession of cocaine, armed trafficking, possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, driving while license suspended, and multiple warrant arrests.

The agency’s units who assisted consisted of the Tourist Policing Unit, Patrol, Criminal Investigations, K9, DUI and Aggressive Driving Units.

“The Osceola County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to serving our community and increasing public safety,” said Sheriff’s Office Maj. Jacob Ruiz in a press release.
