The man arrested Tuesday in connection with homicides in Buenaventura Lakes now faces three murder charges among 18 new ones levied against him.

Osceola County Jail records now show that Kevin Christopher Torres, 41, now faces a total of 20 charges after his arrest in a stolen car in Orange County.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office charged him Tuesday with grand theft auto and armed burglary to an occupied dwelling. Among the charges added late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning:

  • 3 counts of premeditated murder
  • home invasion with a firearm
  • burglary of a structure while armed
  • 2 counts of kidnapping while committing a felony
  • 2 counts of kidnapping/false imprisonment of an adult
  • 2 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
  • 2 counts of aggravated child abuse
  • abuse of a dead human body
  • altering/destroying/concealing evidence
  • grand theft
  • criminal mischief of over $1,000
  • possession of a weapon/ammunition by a convicted felon

Torres was charged in a 2017 case when prosecutors allege he fled from police at a high-speed chase, but he was ruled to be mentally or physically unable to stand trial. Court records show he was in a competency and treatment program at Park Place Behavioral Center, and the court was considering an amended conditional release order.
