A carjacking suspect was arrested in Osceola County on Wednesday after he stole a woman’s vehicle at knifepoint.
On Tuesday, at about 11:18 p.m., Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Applebee’s restaurant, 2060 E. Osceola Parkway, Kissimmee, after receiving an armed carjacking report.
The victim told deputies that she was leaving the restaurant, when an unknown black male, later identified at Rishard Brown, 32, approached her in the parking lot with a knife.  He demanded her car keys, cellular phone and cash, Sheriff’s Office officials said. Brown then drove off in the victim’s vehicle and fled the area.
On Wednesday, Sheriff’s Office Robbery and Tourism Policing Unit detectives were able to identify Brown as the suspect. When detectives searched areas that Brown may have frequented, they found the stolen vehicle that Brown was still driving. He then fled to the St. Cloud area. As deputies were pursuing the vehicle, a passenger in the vehicle, Derik Bonet-Rodriguez, 27, jumped out of the and fled on foot, but was apprehended.
Brown eventually drove into the backyard of a house on Augusta Circle and crashed. He was then arrested and charged with armed robbery with a weapon, grand theft, aggravated assault, fleeing to elude, reckless driving, driving while license suspended, burglary to a structure and resisting without violence.
Bonet-Rodriguez was charged with resisting without violence.
Brown was booked into the Osceola County Jail on no bond.
Bonet-Rodriguez was booked with a $500 bond.
