Working with local utilities, the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners has launched a new program to help businesses impacted by COVID-19 to meet utility payments.

The one-time grant, the Commercial Utilities Assistance Program is designed to work seamlessly with Toho Water Authority, KUA and Duke Energy all participating.

The program will provide assistance to current Small and Large commercial utility clients in good standing prior to March 1st but are now 30 days or more past due. Utilities include electric, natural gas, water and sewer services. These services are critical to the operation of the business, and if turned off, would require the business to cease operations and/or create life, health and safety hazards.

How it works:

A participating utility company provides the county a list of currently active commercial clients that were in good standing before March 1st but are now over 30 days past due. The county verifies the list and issues payment directly to the utility company to bring commercial accounts up to date. The utility ratifies the accounts have been paid and brought current and issues a letter or includes an insert in the next bill notifying clients that the past due invoice has been paid in full due to the assistance provided by Osceola County Board of County Commissioners.
