Man charged with attempted murder after shooting victim during burglary

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office charged a man with attempted murder after he shot a victim in the head during a burglary.

According to a Sheriff’s Office report, on May 29 at about 7:23 p.m. hours the deputies responded to a report of shooting in the North Pointe Subdivision in Kissimmee.

The victim left the home to walk their dog when the person observed a small vehicle stop in front of the home. A black male, later identified as Dashawn E. Brown, 23, exited the vehicle and entered the garage of the victim’s house. The victim ran back to the house and confronted the Brown, who was inside one of the vehicles in the garage.

When a struggle ensued and the Brown said, “I have a gun and I will kill you if you don’t let me go,” the report stated.

Brown then pulled out a handgun and during the struggle, the victim was shot in the back of the head. Brown fled the home and the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The victim was not seriously injured.

During the course of the investigation, the driver of the vehicle identified, and cooperated with the investigation. On June 2, Brown was taken into custody during a traffic stop in the area of West U.S. Highway 192 and Poinciana Boulevard. He was charged with attempted murder and armed occupied burglary. He is being held with no bond at the Osceola County Jail.
