Children in danger of losing their sight recently got the chance to improve their mobility — and confidence — during a recent excursion that lifted them off the ground in Osceola County.

Through Lighthouse Central Florida, a group of children aged 5-13 who are blind or visually impaired experienced the aerial ropes course at Orlando Tree Trek Adventure Park, north of Reunion.

Helping to improve orientation and mobility in the vision-impaired is one of many areas of instruction Lighthouse provides for children living with vision loss, along with sensory efficiency skills, social skills and more.

Through the activity, the children got the chance to have fun while boosting their confidence, demonstrating that they have the same abilities and opportunities as other children.

Lighthouse Central Florida provides education, independent life skills, and job readiness training and coaching to people of all ages living with vision impairment or blindness and their families. The nonprofit provides those vision rehabilitation services in Osceola county and the immediate area. For information, visit www.LighthouseCFL.org.
