Two Osceola County residents were killed in separate auto accidents on local roads Monday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol has reported.
In Orange County, a 26-year-old Kissimmee man was killed on the Beachline Expressway just east of Orlando International Airport just after 8:45 a.m. when the dump truck he was driving drifted from the center lane to the right lane into the path of a Porsche SUV driven by a 36-year-old Winter Park woman. The dump truck left the roadway, struck a pole and overturned onto its left side. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene; the female driver self-transported to the hospital with minor injuries, FHP spokesperson Lt. Kim Montes reported.
Then, just before 11 a.m., a 70-year-old woman was killed outside of Harmony High School while turning westbound onto U.S. Highway 192 from Arthur J. Gallagher Boulevard. FHP said she ran the left-turn red light and was struck on the driver's side by a westbound tractor trailer on 192. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene; three passengers were airlifted to Osceola Regional Medical Center with what FHP called non life-threatening injuries. The tractor trailer driver incurred minor injuries.
Both incidents remain under FHP investigation; the names of those involved have not been released.
