The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) presents its next contest, just in time for Father’s Day - My SuperHero Dad Contest.

The winner of My SuperHero Dad Contest wins a bike. In addition to winning a new bike, there will be a front- page featured article in the Poinciana Pioneer. If you missed your chance last Thursday to be a hero by donating at the APV Big Red Bus Blood Drive, you have a second chance. The Big Red Bus is coming back to Poinciana. The Big Red Bus will be at the Poinciana Community Center, 397 Marigold Ave. on Thursday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Blood Drive last Thursday was a big success.  There were 22 registrants and 17 units collected.  With each donation, donors receive a COVID-19 antibody testing.

The Big Red Bus is by appointment only. To book your spot go online to https://www.oneblood.org/donate-now/donation-centers-list-select-time.stml?driveID=955558.

Although we are officially in Phase 2 of Florida’s reopening, as of this column, Poinciana’s Community Centers are not yet open.  What is and has been open is the Poinciana Victory Pool, located at 445 Marigold Ave. There are new rules and regulations in place as a response to COVID-19 guidelines.

These strict guidelines are put in place to ensure the safety of the Poinciana community. Entrance into the pool is by reservation only for a two-hour time slot. Call 863-427-0900, ext. 501, Monday through Friday. The hours of pool operation are Wednesday through Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Annual membership will be honored or a pass may be purchased for $2 per person.
