The community is invited to learn about potential options for addressing capacity and safety needs along Poinciana Boulevard at a public information meeting scheduled for Feb. 4.

Osceola County is examining future traffic needs and evaluating alternatives to enhance safety along the roadway between Pleasant Hill Road and Trafalgar Boulevard. Alternatives will include adding lanes, accommodating bicycles and pedestrians, improving drainage and modifying traffic signals. The public meeting will provide an opportunity to view the alternatives and provide input.

Following the public meeting, the alternatives will be refined, and county staff will recommend a preferred alternative to the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners for review and approval, based on public input and findings from the alternatives study. The approved preferred alternative will be advanced to the design phase.

The county is offering three ways for interested persons to participate.

In-person open house option: Interested people may attend an in-person open house at the Association of Poinciana Villages: Poinciana Community Center, 445 Marigold Avenue, Poinciana. Attendees will have an opportunity to come anytime between 6 and 7:30 p.m. to view a looping presentation and project displays, speak with project team members and provide comments. The county requests advance registration for this option by contacting the project manager using the contact information below to ensure all attendees are accommodated safely and according to social distancing guidelines. Attendees will be required to wear masks and follow all safety protocols. Those who are not feeling well or are running a fever may not attend the in-person meeting.

Virtual meeting (online) option: The second option is to participate in a Virtual Public Meeting (VPM) from a computer, tablet or mobile device. The VPM will begin at 6 p.m. and will include the same presentation offered at the in-person location. Attendees in the virtual meeting will have an opportunity to download project displays and provide comments or ask questions. Advance registration is required for this option by going to: https://bit.ly/35ayzvX. It should be noted that GoToWebinar does not support Internet Explorer. You will need to use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to register and participate in the virtual meeting.

Phone option (listen-only): Participants may also call into the meeting by dialing 1-562-247-8422 and entering the passcode 662-249-280 when prompted. Persons choosing this option are encouraged to contact the project team directly after the meeting to provide comment or ask questions. Please submit comments to Osceola County Project Manager Conroy Jacobs by phone at 407-742-0557 or email conroy.jacobs@osceola.org.

All participants will receive the same information and have an opportunity to provide comments. Comments received by Feb. 14 will become part of the record for this meeting. Those who cannot attend the meeting may review project information and submit a comment on the project webpage at www.osceola.org/go/poincianablvd. All comments will receive the same consideration.

Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status. Persons with disabilities who require accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act or persons who require translation services (free of charge) should contact Bernardo Alicea, Osceola County ADA coordinator, at 407-742-1200 (TTD: 800-955-8771) or email at Bernardo.Alicea@osceola.org at least seven days before the meeting.
