As most of Florida, including Poinciana, continues to adjust to “Phase One” of our state’s reopening, here’s a few “do’s’” and “don’ts”.

Sorry kids – it is not summer break yet. Virtual classes are still in session. Should your child need WiFi connection, Laurel Elementary, 1891 Laurel Ave., will have a Polk County school bus parked on campus for the next few weeks. This bus will serve as a Wi-Fi hub for students who need access to the Internet. The bus will be parked there from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Another “do” is, you still need to wear facemasks/facial coverings. There will be a facemask giveaway on Saturday, May 9, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Poinciana, 601 Walnut St.  Due to limited supply, it’s first come – first served.  These masks have filter slots and double fabric (washable). There will be no need to exit your vehicle.  Use drive through area and you will be handed a bag containing a mask.

Now here are a few don’ts.  During Phase 1, bars, gyms and personal services (barbershops, hair salons, nail salons and spas) will remain closed.  Restaurants and stores will only be allowed to service up to 25 percent capacity.

If you see a business that is not in compliance with Gov. Ron DeSantis’s Executive order, report that to Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation at http://www.myfloidalicense.com/DBPR/eo-complaints/.

The next Party Zoom will be on Thursday, May 7, from 7 to 7:15 p.m. with Pirate Joe.  This short but sweet interactive program will be a nice way to rap up the child’s night.  To register go to: https://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/eventReg?oeidk=a07eh2hr6ms54f32ddc&oseq=&c=&ch=
