Starting Monday, Jan. 4, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin resurfacing U.S. Highway 192 from west of State Road 417 in Celebration to Bamboo Lane in Kissimmee.

In addition to resurfacing all travel lanes, the project will provide 7-foot-wide buffered bike lanes throughout the project. Additional work includes reconstructed pedestrian curb ramps, crosswalks, and pedestrian signals, as well as drainage improvements.

During construction, motorists should expect lane closures between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Electronic message boards and other signage will be used to direct traffic through the work zone.

Uneven pavement is a common, unavoidable roadway condition with resurfacing projects as the contractor must put down different layers of asphalt during different phases of construction. Motorists are asked to use extra caution while driving through the work zone. Road conditions during construction are short-term and will become less apparent as the project progresses.

Additionally, the level of work activity will vary during different phases of construction, and paving operations will be intermittent.

The construction schedule may change due to weather or other unexpected conditions. For the most current project details and lane closure information, make sure to visit FDOT’s Central Florida website, www.cflroads.com.
