The 2022-23 school year in the Osceola County School District looks to be starting the way the past year ended — with a acute need for staff across the board. That includes teachers and support staff, such as bus drivers.

Hoping to get the new year off to a solid start — the bell rings the morning of Aug. 10 — the district's Transportation Department will hold a Job Fair on Tuesday (July 26) from 8 a.m. to noon at the bus depot at 401 Simpson Road between U.S. 192 and the PATHS/TECO schools.

Wages for bus drivers start at $16.50 (bus monitors start at $15), and the employment package includes free training for the needed Commercial Driver's License, and benefits that kick in after the introductory probation period. Bus drivers and attendants also get nights, weekends and most major holidays off. Overtime through field trips, sporting events, picking an extra route, and such is also available.

Door prizes will be available for those who apply in person on Tuesday, the School District said.

Don't want to drive a bus, but can fix one? Two diesel mechanics are also needed. For transportation-specific job information, go to:  https://www.osceolaschools.net/Page/2605
