The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) has announced the completion of a project on Poinciana Parkway, also known as State Road 538, that included widening the road to four lanes and improving intersections and interchanges.

An event on Friday along the road was canceled due to the weather.

Per CFX, the project added two lanes to create a four-lane, divided expressway the current length of the road, from Ronald Reagan Parkway and U.S. 17-92 to Cypress Parkway.

At the Marigold Avenue interchange, a new bridge includes underdeck lighting and new on and off-ramps to create a diamond interchange. The current southern terminus at Cypress Parkway near Solivita has been widened to help better manage traffic flow in and around the intersection.

The project began in February 2021. The next phase for that road is a northern extension and connection to County Road 532 (Osceola-Polk Line Road), which will provide closer access to Interstate 4. A longer-term project would extend that to the southern end of State Road 429 and a direct connection to I-4. More details are coming soon.
