The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) will hold a virtual Pre-Construction Community Meeting for the State Road 538/Poinciana Parkway widening project from Ronald Reagan Parkway to County Road 580/Cypress Parkway on Wednesday, July 29, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Participants must pre-register by 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, by visiting https://bit.ly/SR538vpmJuly2020.

If you are unable to attend at that time, a video of the meeting will be posted for viewing at https://bit.ly/SR538Widening on Friday, July 31.

This meeting will allow community members to view project materials, including maps, graphics and plans for the proposed sound walls. CFX will be gathering input during the meeting to determine the level of support from nearby property owners and residents for the construction of the sound walls.

This seven-mile project will widen S.R. 538/Poinciana Parkway by adding two lanes to create a divided four lane expressway from Ronald Reagan Parkway to County Road 580/Cypress Parkway. CFX is also re-aligning the intersection with C.R. 580/Cypress Parkway at Solivita Boulevard, building a second bridge over the Reedy Creek Mitigation Bank and adding two new ramps at the existing interchange with Marigold Avenue. CFX conducted a noise analysis and identified three locations where sound walls would be viable to reduce traffic noise.

The project has a construction cost of $138 million and is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2021. It should take approximately two years to complete.
