To my Hispanic brothers and sisters,

As of March 11, we currently have 43,840 residents that have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Based on our current data, only 25 percent of those are Hispanics. As of 2019, the Hispanic population of Osceola County accounts for an estimated 55 percent of our 375,751 residents. This data is concerning as minorities have a higher chance of complications due to the COVID-19 virus.

Social media discussions continue to question the validity and safety of the vaccines available, but I am here to encourage you to place your faith in the proven scientific information versus other mediums of information. In the United States, as of March 10, over 98 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered. As a nation, we are on the path to healing from the past year of stress and uncertainty.

We are seeing many misconceptions, mostly deduced by unqualified individuals, of what will happen when the vaccine is received. False information has rapidly spread masquerading as facts but in reality, they have no solid validity.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has factual and science-based information which I encourage you to read: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/keythingstoknow.html

Osceola County also has information on our website which I encourage you to familiarize yourself with https://www.osceola.org/covid19vaccinations/

To register yourself or a loved-one for the waitlist for the vaccine please use this link which has been set up by the Florida Department of Health: https://myvaccine.fl.gov/ or call 866-201-6507.

Along with the Florida Health Department, community partners are helping administer vaccines to qualified individuals. Below is their information:

I want to encourage you once more to get vaccinated, it is important so we can get back to normalcy. We must trust the scientific advancements to find our way out of this pandemic and to a brighter and more hopeful tomorrow.

Warm Regards,

Viviana Janer
