Osceola County will conduct a community meeting to get input on the Mac Overstreet Property Master Plan on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Liberty High School media center (Building 7)
This community meeting represents at least a sign of "wheels in motion" on the park that local residents have been clamoring for for years. That clamor got louder in the last year as Osceola County initially entered talks with French company CMG Clean Tech to consider building a green-energy production facility on the land. Neighbors vehemently opposed the potential dangers of proposed hydrogen and lithium-ion manufacturing operations, citing potential environmental issues, while others focused on that the land had been earmarked for a regional park that had been a part of the county’s comprehensive master plan since 2005. The French company changed plans and is slated to buy land along Poinciana Boulevard north of the SunRail station.
