The cost of all grocery items have been skyrocketing and making us more cautious of the items we purchase. So, why not get a backyard chicken to get some fresh eggs? UF-IFAS Extension Services of Osceola County will hold its Keeping Backyard Chickens event, teaching how to keep chickens for fun and egg production (which is permitted in much of Osceola County. The event will be held tonight (Aug. 18) at Osceola Heritage Park at 6 p.m. For more information visit http://ocagricuture.eventbrite.com.

Some kids crave the limelight, and now they can get that chance. Osceola Arts is putting on the Youth String Orchestra, designed to inspire and engage students to develop their orchestral musicianship. Students must have previous experience with a string instrument. The service will be directed by Rechel Nganga and Mark Roberts. For additional information, visit OsceolaArts.org or call 407-846-6257.
