The Osceola Chamber will sponsor an event next week to provide an update on what has been happening downtown Kissimmee. The Downtown Update 2022 with the Downtown Kissimmee Council will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 8 a.m. at the Kissimmee Civic Center. Hear from County Manager Don Fisher and City Manager Mike Steigerwald at the Downtown Kissimmee Council’s first Downtown Update since 2019.

A lot has happened in the last three years, as we’ve navigated the pandemic as a community, and there is much to look forward to on the horizon. A hot breakfast from Big John’s Rockin’ BBQ is included. For information on the event visit theosceolachamber.com.

The City of Kissimmee is in search of promoters to host cultural, educational, music and art festivals at the Kissimmee Lakefront Park in 2023. February, May, August, September and December 2023 are open for potential festivals. This Request for Information process is conducted annually, and selected promoters/organizations will be placed on the Lakefront Park Events & Festivals Annual calendar.

Submissions need to be made by Sept. 30 to Matt Libby, Assistant Director, Parks & Recreation Department by email (matt.libby@kissimmee. gov) or mail (101 Church St. Suite 300, Kissimmee, FL 34741) by 5 p.m. on Sept. 30.

Labor Day weekend marks the slow transition from summer to fall, so you might as well live it up this weekend in a fun and safe way. Whether it’s a evening party, a family friendly weekend at a park or prepping your theater plans, there is something for all of us.

Celebrate the unofficial end of summer at the Promenade at Sunset Walk. Four fun-packed days of live music, entertainment, bands, DJs, street performers, amazing food and more begin Friday. That day features performances by Blue Stone Circle, DJ Rick GZ and other street performers. Saturday, Jason Link, Speed Limit 70 and DJ Lon perform, with a street market, and the Saturday night car show to add to the flavor. Sunday features Thompson-Browne and The Boots. It ends Monday with Tim Hamlin and Stella Beat.

This is an end to the summer not to miss. For more information on the event, visit sunset walk. com.

“It’s alive, it’s alive!!!!” Young Frankenstein opens up Sept. 16 at Osceola Art’s. We recently mentioned the upcoming shows coming to the Osceola Art’s Center. Here’s a friendly remember that this cult classic is hitting the stage soon in our community and is not one to miss. For more information visit osceolaarts.org or call 407-846-6257.
