Recently filmed in St. Cloud, filmmaker Wesley Sanchez is making strides with his impactful storytelling with his new short film hitting YouTube titled, ‘Seashell’.

The idea revolves around the drama of being in a toxic relationship.

“This started out as a simple project that snowballed into something completely amazing,” said Sanchez. “Working on this was my first time doing a larger scale and I had to do everything on my own from hiring a crew and choosing locations.”

Having done smaller projects in the past, Sanchez is making his mark with this short film choosing St. Cloud based on its beauty and beachfront, noting St Cloud offers much in its landscape drawing interest to its location.

“I’m originally from Winter Park, you know, I went right in to shoot this film. I shot one scene in Cape Canaveral, then I didn’t want to shoot in Cape Canaveral, that’s pretty far you know,” said Sanchez. “So I found St. Cloud. They have the lakefront beach and it is very accessible. So we shot over Lakefront Beach, took us the whole day and we got ten hours of footage.”

Along with Sanchez, his crew, being foreign to the St. Cloud area made it worth their while.

“The crew had never been on set before and they killed it, the actors did great, and the locals in St Cloud were very welcoming passing by,” Sanchez said. “After shooting in St Cloud, I plan on shooting there again for beach scenes. I explored the community briefly and I have visions where I can film here again as well.”

Wesley continues his filmmaking career out of the Florida Panhandle and has plans on filing in St. Cloud again.
