Here’s a look at Osceola County Extension Services in the month of August:

Taking Control of Your Money: Aug. 4, 5-8 p.m.: Stop wondering where money went and letting it control you. Instead establish financial goals, discover your financial potential and develop a plan to make your money work for you. Register at https://ocfcs.eventbrite.com.

Virtual Event: A Home of Your Own, First Time Homebuyer – 1-Day Class Aug. 19 (Spanish) and Aug. 26 (English), 9 a.m.-5 p.m.: This class addresses the ins and outs of buying/building a home. Participants will learn how to prepare financially, select a home, negotiate price, review contract and what to expect at closing. $10 fee. Register at https://ocfcs.eventbrite.com.

Backyard Birding – Free Zoom Online Class, Aug. 24, 12-1 p.m.: Presented by Krista Stump, Learn to recognize common backyard birds, to identify their preferred habitats, and how to attract them by selecting the appropriate feeder and food. Register at http://ocagriculture.eventbrite.com.

Starting Your Own Cottage Food Business, Aug. 31, 10 a.m.-noon, online event, $6 fee: Cottage Foods are low-risk foods that you are allowed to make at home and sell. Florida Cottage Food law was recently revised, expanding opportunities for food entrepreneurs. Learn about these exciting new changes and how to start your own cottage food operation.
