The Four Chaplains Service will be Jan. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the American Legion Post 80 Civic Hall, 1019 Pennsylvania Ave. St. Cloud. On Feb. 3, 1943, the US.A.T. Dorchester carrying 902 servicemen, merchant seamen and civilian workers was suck in the Atlantic Ocean. Through the pandemonium, four Army chaplains brought prayers for the dying and encouragement for those that would live. They were Lt. George L. Fox, Lt. Alexander D. Goode, Lt. John P. Washington and Lt. Clark V. Poling. Of the 902 met aboard the ship, 672 died, including the chaplains.
