POINCIANA NEWS — Friday night is Bingo night!

It’s still summer!  Escape the heat with Summer Beach Party Bingo on Friday, Aug. 28 at the Poinciana Community Center.  Doors open at 6 p.m. and first ball is called at 7.  Beach Party Bingo is for adults 18 and older. Ten games are available for $5 with cash payouts. The concession stand will be open, so no outside food or beverage allowed. Bingo is played every Friday night.

That morning, County Commission Chairman Brandon Arrington invites Osceola County residents ages 55 and up to join the District 3 monthly Bingo from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Poinciana Library.  This month’s theme is Hurricane Bingo.

 

Falls are not a normal part of aging!  Kick-off National Falls Prevention Awareness Month on Friday, Aug. 28 at 11 a.m. at HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital.  Falls Free: 6 Things You Can Do Today, a free community lunch & learn will show what you can do today to reduce your risks for falls and maintain your health, safety and independence. Sensory Play Date takes place on Thursday, Aug. 27 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Poinciana Library.  Explore the five senses with sensory activities that benefit all children but are particularly helpful to those on the autism spectrum or those with sensory integration challenges.

R.I.S.E. Up Osceola: READ Bus will be at the Library on Monday, Aug. 31. This Osceola School District’s Special Programs Department is bringing their READ Bus, a renovated yellow school bus with an interior that resembles a mini pre-K classroom that will be onsite. There will be 2 times for this event (9:30 a.m. and 12 noon) for ages 3-4.

Baby and Me takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon.  Hug your little ones while sharing this special first-time experience.  This is for children from birth to 18 months. This program introduces books with playtime and repetitive music.

Rhythm, Rhyme & Storytime takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 1 from 10:30-11 a.m.  This program is for children up to age 5.  Sing, swing and sway through this program dedicated to music and movement.

Adults can Leaf Us A Book Recommendation all day long at the Library on Tuesday, Sept. 1.  Share a favorite book or author by adding a leaf to the Recommendation Tree.

The Library Advisory Board will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 1 from 6-7 p.m. The Library Advisory Board consists of residents, selected by the Osceola County Commissioners to provide input and insight to members of the Osceola County Library System.  The meetings are held once per quarter at one of the Osceola County’s Libraries and the public is invited to attend.

Spend quality time with your preschooler in a kid’s centered learning environment Flex Your Fingers on Wednesday, Sept. 2 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.  Participate in pre-planned activities that encourage the development of fine motor skills.

The Wishing Spell takes place on Wednesday, Sept. 2nd from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Library.  School aged children may enter the magical world of The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell!  Crack enchanted clues, conquer a charmed escape room, create magical keep sakes and bring the fairy tale story to life.
