Effective Aug. 3, the city of St. Cloud will resume disconnections and late fees for non-payment of utility accounts, but those experiencing financial hardships due to COVID-19 are encouraged to apply for assistance.

“We understand how challenging this pandemic has been for many families in our community, and we are willing to work with people to help them avoid disconnection,” said Marjorie Craig, director of Environmental Utilities for the city.

In March, the city suspended service disconnections and late fees as part of its pandemic response plan. Customers experiencing a financial hardship are encouraged to call the city’s customer service department at 407-957-7344, email customerservice@stcloud.org, and visit the city’s Web site, www.stcloud.org and click on St. Cloud Utilities under Services on the home page.

“We’ve always been committed to providing exceptional customer service, and this will remain our approach moving forward,” Craig said.

As of July 21, the St. Cloud Cares Utilities Assistance Program has provided financial assistance to 91 customers.
