Deputies arrested and charged two men grand theft auto, with one additionally charged with carjacking, after he stole a vehicle from a victim who stopped for them when they crashed the stolen car.
On Sunday, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Osceola County Sheriff’s Office detectives from the Tourism Policing Unit were conducting an investigation for a wanted man, Jordan Bailey.
They observed Bailey in the Liberty Boulevard area in Kissimmee and a Hispanic male, later identified as Axcel Yariel-Ortiz, fleeing the area in a red Nissan Altima.
It was later determined the Nissan was reported stolen out of Polk County.
The Aviation Unit followed the vehicle and observed the vehicle crash at the intersection of North Orange Blossom Trail and Town Center Boulevard.
Bailey exited the stolen Nissan leaving Yariel-Ortiz behind.
Bailey carjacked a vehicle that had stopped to render aid at the accident scene, according to a Sheriff’s Office report. Yariel-Ortiz was quickly apprehended, while the Aviation Unit continued to follow Bailey.
Bailey was later arrested after the vehicle he was driving was spiked by patrol deputies while he fled southbound on Florida’s Turnpike.
Bailey was charged with armed carjacking, grand theft auto, violation of quarantine, driving with a suspended license and resisting arrest. Yariel-Ortiz was charged with grant theft auto, violation of quarantine and resisting arrest and accessory after the fact.
Both were transported to the Osceola County Jail with zero bond.
