Study Stars is a new program available at the Poinciana Branch Library.

Study Stars offers homework help to students by Teen Ambassadors in math, reading, science and other school subjects. For this unique “study buddy” program, participants must be in kindergarten to eighth grade.

Study Stars is offered at the library Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 4 to 6 p.m.

The Poinciana Library Teen Ambassador program consists of youth who serve the community through volunteering. Most high schools require a certain number of community service hours prior to graduating. Through volunteering as Teen Ambassadors, these students are not only providing services to their community, they are also learning skill sets which will carry on into their adulthood.

The Poinciana Branch Library is at 101 N. Doverplum Ave.

Radiant Dunkin will present a Car Show on Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m. at Dunkin, 800 Cypress Parkway. The Car Show will feature food, entertainment and American Muscle Cars.

In order to help incoming middle school students and parents become familiar with their new schools for next year, Osceola county middle schools, grade K-8 schools, and the Osceola County School for the Arts will host a Sixth Grade Student Orientation Night on the following date: Incoming Sixth Grade Student Orientation night, today, Jan. 16, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Location: All middle schools, Grade K-8 schools, and the Osceola County School for the Arts.

Students who will move on next year to sixth grade, along with their parents, are invited to attend the Orientation Night at their new school to meet their principal, to get an idea of what classes will be offered, to make their way around the campus, to learn about the extracurricular sports and club offerings, and more. This Orientation Night will be a great opportunity for parents to get involved in the next step of their child’s education. Parents with Orientation Night questions are encouraged to contact the middle school their child will attend.

Osceola County eighth Grade Student Curriculum Nights, designed to ease transition from middle school to high school, were also planned. Poinciana High School held its Orientation on Jan. 13. Liberty High School’s 9th Grade Orientation will be on Tuesday, Jan. 21, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
