It's the first of five weekends of JW convention at Heritage Park
At a place accustomed to bringing in large-crowd events– the Mecum car auction, Osceola County Fair, Country Thunder among them—another one is headed to the Silver Spurs Arena next week for five weekends.
The annual Jehovah’s Witness convention will make its way to Kissimmee next weekend, Aug. 2-4. Local traffic will be affected in the morning and early afternoons those days.
This convention’s theme is “Declare the Good News!” The free event is expected to draw more than 40,000 attendees to the area over the five weekends, much like last year as in-person conventions are again the norm following the pandemic.
“We were very happy to once again work with Kissimmee officials in preparation for our upcoming series of conventions,” said Keith Barros, local spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses. “These events are a highlight of the year for many thousands who appreciate the positive and practical aspects of the program, as well as the encouragement. Therefore, we’re overjoyed at being able to enjoy the program in this hospitable and welcoming city.”
Kissimmee resident Jason Victorino will be attending this year’s convention.
“It’s an occasion that brings friends and family together and allows us to be part of something that brings real hope and joy—two things sorely lacking in today’s world,” he said.
Local congregations will engage to invite community members to the event, which Barros said will center on how the Bible’s message of hope can help combat negativity in daily lives.
