Robin Severance-Lopez's re-arrest related to bond acquisition from June arrest, prosecutors say

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday afternoon it had serveda warrant on Robin Severance Lopez, estranged wife of suspended Osceola Sheriff Marcos Lopez.

The warrant was served at her residence, in St. Cloud around 3 p.m. Thursday.  Prior to a schedule appearance in front of an Osceola County judge, Severance-Lopez instead was remanded back to the Lake County Jail.

She was originally arrested June 23 on charges of conspiracy to commit racketeering in Lake County as a co-conspirator to Marcos Lopez's charges. Investigators say the former Sheriff was involved in what occurred at a handful of locations that contained illegal gambling machines, including one on West U.S. Highway 192. According to a 255-page affidavit, Homeland Security Investigations accuses him of profiting from the operation, to the tune of $600,000-$700,000 in payments and campaign contributions.

The Lopezes were both arrested in June, and bonded out (Marcos on a $1 million bond, Robin $400,000) in July, on the condition the funds did not come from "ill-gotten gains," and they were instructed not to have contact with each other.

The new charge is related to "providing false information or omitting material facts in a bail application", as prosecutors now allege Lopez may have misrepresented or withheld information related to how her bail figure was acquired.
