It’s been a minute, but on Friday, May 15, the Poinciana Branch Library (as well as all of the other Osceola Branch system’s libraries) will reopen.

The libraries will be open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please be aware of the following requirements for the safety of library uses and staff. Face coverings, for everyone over the age of 2, must be worn while in the library. The library will not provide masks for patrons; each person may bring in one bag, no larger than a regular backpack; library collections will not be open for browsing – library users can find materials in the online category and ask the staff members to retrieve them; children’s areas will remain closed to the public, and seating will be limited to 25 percent of the normal seating capacity. Due to the limited capacity, library visitors will be asked to complete their business in a two-hour period so that others may enter the facility.

In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, curbside pickup will be the new method of checking out items and pick-ups on hold. Curbside pickup service is for checkout only. The only way to return library items will be through the outdoor book drops.

Since going up and down the aisles is prohibited, if you are not sure of what you want to check-out, you may use the Personal Shopper service. To utilize this service, call 407-742-8888 or email thelibrary@osceolalibrary.org.

Remember the Poinciana Lifestyles Quarterly Photo Contest? This quarters’ category will be “Favorite Quarantine Photo”. Families can be creative on how they celebrated special occasions or how they have spent time together. Just add your photo to #thisisPoinciana on your social media post. The photo with the most likes will win a free photo shoot discount. Photos will be accepted through June.

With things being so out of sorts, it is good to find any reason to be thankful and stay positive. Poinciana LifeStyles has launched a Brighten Your Day Campaign. Poinciana residents are asked to decorate their front door bright and cheerful as a thank you to all the essential workers in the community. Make this a family project. Cover your front door – be creative! Show first responders, healthcare workers, teachers and grocery store workers that you care and appreciate them.

The Brighten Your Day Campaign will award a pool membership and a $50 gift card from Babcock Home Furnishing & More to the most cheerful, clever and best decorated front door.

When completed take a picture and email to trish.moore@fsresidential.com. The deadline for this contest has been extended to May 22.
