Beginning Monday, Aug. 24, Osceola School District's School Nutrition Services Department will provide meals for digital learning students (Option No. 2) as part of a Curbside Meals Program.  Details of the program are as follows:

• Breakfast and lunch meals will be available daily for parents or students to pick up at each individual school.  Parents and students are encouraged to visit www.osceolaschools.net/SchoolNutrition for locations and times for meal pick-up. The schedule and pick-up times are subject to change based on participation. No alternative meal pick-up sites or times are available.

• Multiple student meal pick-up for families with students attending different schools is not available because of accountability requirements. In addition, students enrolled in Osceola Virtual School (OVS) or Florida Virtual School (FLVS) are not eligible for the curbside meal program.

• Parents must provide a student's school identification with name and ID number to pick up meals, and are encouraged to have the student's name and ID number written on paper in large font for social distance viewing. Other acceptable forms of identification include a passport or birth certificate that attaches the child to the parent.

• The Osceola County School District provides every student with breakfast at no cost.

• When it comes to lunch, schools are either part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) Program, where the USDA allows the district to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students without collecting household applications, or they are non-CEP, which means families will be charged the regular lunch price $2.40 for each meal unless parents apply for and are approved for free or reduced priced meals or are directly certified. Families are encouraged to apply for meal benefits if their income has changed at www.osceolaschools.net/SchoolNutrition beginning Friday, Aug. 14. A list of CEP and non-CEP schools can also be found on this website.

Parents are encouraged to help their school cafeteria staff prepare for curbside meal planning by participating in an interest survey at www.osceolaschools.net/SchoolNutrition by Tuesday, Aug. 18.

"I am very proud that the Osceola School District can continue to ensure that our meal program supports families and benefits our digital learning students," said Superintendent Debra Pace.  "This is yet another important way we are setting our students up for their best chance at success."
