Osceola School District hosts drive-in event for families Of English language learners

As outlined under the goal of Community Engagement and Governance in its district Strategic Plan, the Osceola County School Board continues to prioritize providing families opportunities to acquire information, knowledge and skills to support their children's education at home and at school. 

Families of English Language Learners in the Osceola School District are invited to participate in an innovative free drive-in event hosted by the Multicultural Education Department on Oct. 15 at Flora Ridge Elementary, located at 2900 Dyer Blvd. in Kissimmee, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Information for parents of English language learners will be featured on a 30-foot outdoor movie screen. Audio will be streamed on car radios, ensuring safe distancing as families will stay inside their vehicles for the duration of the event. Information to be shared will include:

•Supports available for ESOL students.

•Resources for parents to support and advocate for their students.

•Osceola Family Leadership Institute (FLI) enrollment information.

•Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Parking will open at 6:30 p.m., and the first 100 cars will receive a free large pizza. Attendees will have a chance to win VISA gift cards.
