Osceola County Fire Rescue firefighters extinguished a fire Sunday at the former Star Motel.

Just after 5 p.m. a 911 call was received, reporting smoke and flames coming from 4880 W. U.S. Highway 192, formerly the Star Motel.

Upon arrival, units confirmed heavy fire and smoke coming from the building. Firefighters were able to establish command and quickly put water to the fire, knocking it down in minutes. Soon, the fire was extinguished and searches of the facility were conducted.

No one was injured in the incident, and the State Fire Marshal office was contacted to perform an investigation into the origin of the blaze.

The embattled Star Motel had it’s water and power shut off to people living there after the owner fell behind in paying the utility bills. It is now set to be demolished.
