Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital names new Chief Quality Officer

Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital has named Joel Santora, MD, MBA, CPE, as its new chief quality officer.

In his role, which began Monday, Dr. Santora will participate in key clinical committees and support the processes and policies resulting in high-quality patient care driven by system-wide clinical practices and standards.

“We are thrilled and honored to have Dr. Santora join the team as our chief quality officer,” said Brian Wetzel, president, Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital. “Dr. Santora’s experience, his desire to provide excellent patient care, his focus on constant improvements in care delivery and quality and his ability to connect with physicians and team members will undoubtedly allow us to realize the future that we all aspire to at the hospital.”

Previously, Dr. Santora served as an internal medicine attending physician at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center and critical care physician at all Orlando Health hospitals.

He is chair of the institutional review board and critical care task force at Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital and serves on the physician performance improvement committee.

Dr. Santora earned a bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University, a medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine and completed internal medicine residency at Orlando Health serving as chief resident. Following residency, he completed a critical care fellowship at Orlando Health. Dr. Santora completed his physician executive MBA from the University of Tennessee. He completed the American Association of Physician Leadership capstone and earned the Certified Physician Executive (CPE) designation.

Tommy’s Express free car Wash to educators on ‘Teacher Tuesday’ The Tommy’s Express Car Wash at 2980 John Young Parkway (at Centerview Boulevard south of Osceola Parkway and the Loop) in Kissimmee will be giving away free WORKS washes to all teachers on Tuesday, May 9 in celebration of National Teacher Appreciation Week.

To qualify, teachers will have to show up between 7am and 8pm and show their school badge or ID at the cashier window.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to recognize the teachers in our community with free washes on Teacher Tuesday. Our teachers go above and beyond and make an immeasurable impact on the lives of young people, and this is our small way to give back and celebrate all the good work that they are doing,” said Will Harden, Regional Manager.

Hot Dog contest qualifier in Kissimmee May 13 Think you can compete with famous competitive eaters Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo? Do you like hot dogs — a lot of them?

Nathan’s Famous will host its first qualifying event for the annual Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest at noon on Saturday, May 13 at Nathan’s Famous in the Old Town Entertainment District.

The top male and female finishers in the event will qualify for the iconic Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, Brooklyn, on July 4th, aired on ESPN, and compete against reigning champions Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo and a roster of the topranked competitive eaters from around the world. In addition to Kissimmee, the 2023 Nathan’s Famous qualifying circuit will visit cities around the country including Cincinnati, Pleasanton, Calif., and Washington, D.C.
