Mother to be arrested in death of child found dead at Star Island

A woman who was found unresponsive with her dead four-year-old daughter in a resort hotel room in January is being arrested and charged with the girl's murder.

The Osceola County Sheriff's has announced that Jacinda Marie Decaro, 26, is expected to be arrested, charged with premeditated murder and transported to the Osceola County Jail this afternoon, according to jail records.

On Jan. 10, Decaro and her daughter Masiela were both found unresponsive on a bed in a room of the Star Island Resort in Kissimmee after Jacinda’s mother, who worked with Decaro at the resort, asked security to respond to the room and conduct a well-being check when Jacinda did not show up to work.

Sheriff’s deputies responded in reference to a Suicide Attempt call. According to their report, nobody answered door, which was locked and latched from the inside. Security entered the hotel room and found the master bedroom door locked, and the balcony door leading to the bedroom was also locked.

After finally gaining entry to the master bedroom, responders found Jacinda and her daughter unresponsive on the bed, along with a chilling note laying on the nightstand that said, “I’m sorry.”

While Jacinda had a faint pulse and was transported to Advent Health Celebration to begin life saving measures, Masiela was declared deceased on scene. Sheriff Marco Lopez later said the girl died due to "a concoction of pills or medication."
