Man barricades himself in home to avoid arrest

A man barricaded himself inside a home for more than an hour Tuesday, while deputies where attempting to arrest him.

At about 9 a.m., members from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Tourist Policing Unit responded to a Rob Way home in Kissimmee to serve arrest and search warrants. The warrants were for Tiara Shanta Renee Banks and Craig Renault Parham for scheme to defraud.

Banks was taken into custody without incident after a traffic stop.

When detectives attempted to make contact with Parham at the home, he refused to come out and began to barricade the windows and doors, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office SWAT team and negotiators responded to the scene. Initially, Parham refused to exit the home where he was inside with two juveniles and two adults. After approximately an hour and a half, Parham exited the home and was taken into custody without incident. No one was injured and the residence was secured.

Banks was arrested for the scheme to defraud warrant and was transported to the Osceola County Jail, where she is being held on a $2,500 bond. Parham also was arrested for the scheme to defraud warrant and was transported to the Osceola County Jail, where he is being held on a $1,000 bond. Parham has an additional warrant out of Sarasota.
