The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on murder charges after a victim was shot at a Davenport house party.

Demetrius Cox, 20, was charged with the murder 20-year-old Wolph Lutherking Luma.

On April 14, Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of shots fired at the StoneyBrook South subdivision in Davenport. When deputies arrived, they believed a shooting might have occurred, but could not locate any victims.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office later contacted the Osceola Sheriff’s Office after a shooting victim had been dropped off at Dr. Phillip’s Hospital. The victim was later identified as Luma, who later was pronounced dead. Osceola deputies believed Luma was attending a house party in the Davenport area and that it was an isolated incident.

During the course of the investigation, probable cause was established to obtain an arrest warrant for Cox. Hewas arrested on Friday on the warrant and transported to the Osceola County Jail with zero bond. Demetrius did cooperate with the investigation. “The Osceola County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to serving our community and increasing public safety,” said Sheriff’s Office Maj. Jacob Ruiz in a press release.
