Amid the roar of Hurricane Sally, Ft. Walton Beach hosted this year’s annual conference of the Florida Association of Chamber Professionals (FACP), who recently announced that Robin Hughes, senior director of business development at the Kissimmee/Osceola County Chamber of Commerce, has been named the 2019 Florida Chamber Professional of the Year.

Following an application process, Hughes was chosen by a group of her fellow chamber professionals from around Florida. She was recommended for the award for her dedication to her job, especially during the year 2019 that saw her take on sole responsibility for the chamber’s sales and retention for much of the year, while also learning to implement the chamber’s new tiered dues structure.

“Robin and I have worked together for 18 years through many changes and challenges in the chamber world. Robin has embraced all of the changes and run with them and our tiered dues has been a successful turn in events, and I give a lot of the credit to Robin Hughes,” said Chamber Executive Vice President Cindy Lewis.

Hughes has been with the chamber since 2002.

Kissimmee Chamber President/CEO John Newstreet said, “Through the pandemic the Kissimmee Chamber staff have worked extra hard to help businesses and their employees. Robin Hughes has brought many of these people into the family and was eager to check on and help them where she could and that is just one example of her dedication over the 18 years and counting she has given to the chamber.”

The Kissimmee/Chamber’s Executive Vice President Cindy Lewis previously won this award in 2018. Additionally, FACP named the Kissimmee/Osceola County Chamber the 2017 Chamber of the Year.

Serving Osceola County since the early 20th Century, the mission of the Kissimmee/Osceola County Chamber of Commerce is to be champions for business and community.
