Can you believe this heat wave?

It is one for the record books with highs in the mid-to-upper 90s. I think the 90s will continue through Wednesday, but then a cold front will pass through, bringing showers and thunderstorms and in the 80s starting Thursday.

A few showers and storms will be possible this weekend with highs in the upper 80s. With all of the tornadoes in the Southeast over the past few days, there were a few things I wanted to mention. When you hear a tornado watch it just means that conditions are favorable for severe weather, and you should listen for possible warnings and think about where you will go if a tornado is moving into your area. If a tornado warning is issued, it means a tornado has actually touched down or radar indicates rotation in the storm and it is dangerous. At the point of a warning being issued, you should move to your safe place immediately, preferably the smallest room in the center of your home with no windows. Many times large trees fall on homes and can be very dangerous, so try to take shelter away from the tallest trees in your yard in case they blow down on your house.  If you have any weather questions or comments, my email is weather1@charter.net.
