AdventHealth Kissimmee new patient tower, which will significantly increase the hospital room and bed count will open in January 2022, the Kissimmee City Commission recently learned.
AdventHealth Kissimmee CEO Sheila Rankin gave a presentation to the commission on Feb. 16 about the expansion project, which will add three more floors to the existing tower. The project was first announced in May of 2019. It’s expected to be fully enclosed by April and completed by the end of this year. It will open to patients by January 2022.

“It’s so exciting for us because never would we have imagined that this quickly we were going to have to be expanding,” Rankin said about the $84 million project.
Rapid population growth has contributed to the need for additional capacity at the campus, as reflected in the number of patients seen at the campus: In 2018, AdventHealth Kissimmee had about 9,000 admissions and more than 67,000 emergency room visits.

The three new floors, totaling 123,000 square feet and containing 80 private rooms, will bring the campus bed count to 240.
In 2020, the company opened AdventHealth Partin Settlement Health Park & ER at 2510 E. U.S. Highway in Kissimmee featuring a two-story, 36,000-square-foot medical office building and a 19,000-square-foot, 24-bed freestanding emergency department.

Other series of improvements at AdventHealth Kissimmee included:

  • An expanded emergency room, which that opened in 2014.
  • The existing three-story, 80-bed patient tower, which opened in 2015.
  • And a major expansion of the surgical suites.

There are more projects planned, which Ranking didn’t elaborate.
“I will drop a little bit of a hint. These are not the last things we are going to be building,” she said. “In a few months there will probably be some announcements.”
