The 80th anniversary year celebration continues in a couple weeks at the Silver Spurs Arena with the 153rd Silver Spurs Rodeo on May 31 and June 1.
Despite a changing world and changing county, the iconic Tradition Rides On, as the rodeo continues the yearlong celebration honoring its enduring legacy and deep roots in Osceola County.
Tickets range from $15 for ages 4-10 (3 and under free) to $25-35 for adults depending on the seating.
Since the first rodeo was held on July 4, 1944 as a World War II bond effort, the Silver Spurs Rodeo has become an iconic event, symbolizing the close-knit fabric of founding members of multi-generational families, who in turn have created new generations of rodeo fans.
And just like in years past, those fans will be treated to seven traditional rodeo events: bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, women’s barrel racing, steer wrestling, and team roping.
In a unique nod to the younger generation, the June rodeo includes junior barrel racing and bull riding, and a special appearance by the Junior Silver Spurs Quadrille, which will feature teenagers performing the traditional “Square Dance on horseback.” Mutton bustin’, known as sheep racing for the youngest competitors, returns during breaks in the action.
But beyond the action in the rodeo ring, the Silver Spurs Riding Club puts on the show and annually gives back to the community, contributing nearly $100,000 to non-profits just since 2020. This years beneficiaries, from right here in the community, are the Boy & Girls Club of St. Cloud and Safety First PediAquatics.
