As it has in years past — non-COVID years at least — the St. Cloud Parks and Recreation Department and the Chris Lyle Aquatic Center Thursday hosted a local part of the World’s Largest Swim Lesson, an initiative to prevent drowning in children; it’s one of the top five causes of death in people aged 14 years and younger in 48 countries.

The World’s Largest Swim Lesson brings together hundreds of aquatic centers around the world like Chris Lyle to teach kids and parents how to be safer in and around the water.

Members of the aquatic center taught water safety, and members of the St. Cloud Fire Rescue Department held a CPR clinic and showed youngsters how to use a defibrillator.
