Voters in Osceola County head to the polls on or before Aug. 20—early voting begins Monday, Aug. 5—and last week at Osceola Heritage Park, the St. Cloud Chamber of Commerce brought candidates and voters together to Osceola Heritage Park to get each familiar with each other.
Hundreds attended “Politics in the Barn”, where candidates for races that will send them to City Hall, the County building, Tallahassee, Washington D.C. or a local constitutional office had booths, spoke with voters and got 90 seconds to make a statement for all.
The event included the traditional straw poll, where 250 attendees cast ballots—the Supervisor of Elections even ran out of them. Of those who got to vote, winners of races that include the city of St. Cloud include Chris Robertson in the mayor’s race, Mandy Shafer for City Council, Ricky Booth for County Commissioner and Wiley Black for Sheriff.
