The city will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this year with a Paint the Cloud Green parade, scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 13.
Due to COVID-19, the traditional street party is being replaced with the parade.
“This is an opportunity for people to have more of a comfort level, spread out and watch the parade go by,” said Erin Jenks, special events manager with the city. “We want to get lots of people involved. It’s a great way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day while still being safe.”
The parade route will start at the lakefront, travel along Pennsylvania toward downtown, take 12th Street over to Massachusetts, then return to the lakefront.
Parade entries are still being accepted; fee is $50 for businesses, $25 for nonprofits, and school groups are free.
“We are limiting the parade to 100 entries and are limited the number of walkers in the parade,” Jenks said. “We want people on floats so we can maintain constant flow during the parade. This is what we did for the Christmas parade last year, and it worked well. Spectators were able to social distance along the route, wear masks and enjoy a fun parade. That is our goal also for Paint the Cloud Green.”
Shamrock Auto is the event sponsor for the parade. To register, call 407-957-7243 or visit the city’s Facebook page and click on Events.
